Reflections on Webtext project

I am not completely done with this project, but have already learned a good deal more about how web pages work and how easy it really is to have a website. I am a little frustrated with some of the technical aspects of the website and am still having difficulty getting my corrections to go live. It has been and will continue to be a learning experience I am sure.

Reflections on the Ethnography Assignment

The Ethnography was a new concept for me and I was amazed at the variety and potential for subjects to write about. It is incredible all the subdivisions that can be found all aroud us. I am not really sure that I did what the assignment called for because it was almost so broad that it felt like anything would work yet that still doesn't feel right. I usually enjoy going in depth and looking into the details of situations and people so this was fun in that regard as well. It gave me a chance to put my observations down on paper instead of keeping them in my head. I enjoy the way writing can challenge us to notice more about the world. As we attempt to make it make since on the page we understand more and more about the world that we live in.

Reflections on the Research paper

The biggest thing I feel has improved is my attitude towards research. I am usually frustrated and discouraged but being able to use the Articles and the databases it was much more enjoyable. Who would have thought that the research would be the easy part, I was encouraged to find a wealth of scholarly articles pertaining to training horses and gleaned quite a bit of information. This paper was better as far as stress goes as well however, I can't say how it really was until I get it back and see what my grade is. All in all I enjoyed the paper even though it was a long research paper.

I think this is right only the words that are supposed to be underlined are in italics because I can't find how to underline them.

Reading and Annotations

I have read quite a few sources and am pleased to find how good and relevant they are. Only thing I don't quite get yet is how to do the Annotation.

Progress

I found three good books from the Library and have begun to read some of the articles from the databases and think I am doing pretty well as far as sources go. I would like to find a little more info on the older technique of breaking a horse, but otherwise am doing fairly well.

New Take on the Horse Training Idea

In order to not make my research paper a "How to" paper what if I focused on the differences between training methods and styles? This way I would be able to compare/contrast and allow readers to judge for themselves. It would also give me more to research than just how to train a horse.

Top Three

1) Horse Training

I have become involved with the horse program were I work at Camp Fitch. There is a young (4 hear old) Quarter Horse who has great personality and potential, and if I knew more I would love to train her and make her into a really good horse. I don't know a lot, but I have spend a few year riding and helping out at different barns and really enjoy learning abut horses and riding them. My angle towards this topic is going to be more on the practical side. What are the steps to training a horse?

2)Handwriting Analysis

When I was in TX I had a meeting with someone who analyzed my handwriting and I was so amazed by how she knew what she did about me by just looking over my handwriting. She explained quite a few of the things that she looks at and what they mean, but I would love to understand more about it and how she was able to get so much out of my handwriting. What do people who analyze handwriting look for when they are analyzing someones handwriting?

3)Army Chaplin's

I just started dating an Army Chaplin and would like to look into what it is he will do and how his life may look in the future. I don't know much at all about what an Army Chaplin's life would be like and am thinking I may do this topic for my second research paper. How is a Chaplin different from a pastor? What is in the job description of an army Chaplin. I am not sure what guiding question to use, and any of the ones I just put down could work.

first post

Here are some questions I am considering for my research paper.

Horse Training: How do different training techniques work?, What are the major differences between them?, What are the basic steps that are taken to properly train a horse? and What are the diffrent levels a horse can be trained at?

Handwriting Analysis: What are the different uses for handwriting analysis? and How does it work? Who uses handwriting analysis?
